This website is built using a combination of WordPress and the standard online learning environment called Moodle. The interactive content in some of the presented courses was developed using either Rise360 or Articulate.
I prefer to use Moodle as a Learning Management System instead of WordPress. The primary reason is by itself, Word Press does not the provide the functionality and security that Moodle offers. Secondly, I acknowledge that many plugins do exist that may extend or enhance the functionalities of Word Press, however the use of those third party plugins does require more the need for more server resources and also adds a higher level of risk to the integrity of the system. In comparison, Moodle, in native format, is more secure and provides the functionality and security of an industrial strength learning management system. WordPress is good though for publishing of content and that is why the front-end of this system has been built using this platform.
Some may argue that this website is a vanity project. I disagree. This website has been built and designed to showcase my skills, personal and academic interests – and also, to introduce people to the topics and subjects that I am either working on or researching.
